hum ko man ki shakti dena, man vijay kare
dusron ki jay se pehle, khud ko jay kare
bhedbhaav apane dil se saaf kar sake
doston se bhool ho to maaf kar sake
jhoot se bache rahe, sach ka dam bhare
dusron ki jay se pehle, khud ko jay kare
mushkile pade to hum pe itna karm kar
saath de to dharm ka, chale to dharm kar
khud pe hausla rahe, badi se naa dare
dusron ki jay se pehle, khud ko jay kare
From the Hindi film Guddi (1971), sung by Vani Jairam, music composed by Vasant Desai.
The meaning:
Give us strength of mind, that the mind may be victorious
That before others' victory, the self is victorious
May we be able to cleanse our hearts of divisions and discord
May we be able to forgive friends who errr
May we be safe from falsehood and may truth be our very breath
Before others' victory, may the self be victorious
If difficulties befall us, may we strive on
May we abide only by Truth, and walk with Truth
May we have self-conviction, and not fear adversity
Before others' victory, may the self be victorious

thanks for giving the lyrics..please give the meaning of the song also...
people like me who donno Hindi much....will be happy to see the meaning along .....God bless you!
I think the translation of
"dusron ki jay se pehle, khud ko jay kare"
is incorrect. It is not
"That before others' victory, the self is victorious "
but quite the opposite.
I think it is trying to say that we win over (the ills within) ourselves, before trying to win the world.
I agree with the last comment. It think it is more indicated to win the ills within ourselves.
Also Sach ka dham bhare would be to Inhale truth.
:)
It was sang as a morning prayer in my school but never got it right until now. Great song. Schools and song writers in India should make sure children understand what they are taught.
Perfect
It's so hard to get an in-depth meaning of these songs online. I think the answers aren't online š¤£
That feels truer
What a song

It sounds perfect
